Transitioning to a new automation platform can be challenging, time-consuming, and risky. However, migrating to RunMyJobs by Redwood is designed to be a seamless process with minimal disruption.
Redwood provides organizations with a dedicated team of automation experts who assist throughout the migration. The RunMyJobs migration team helps to ensure a smooth transition. Instead of a full migration that uses a complex, brute-force approach, RunMyJobs uses an efficient, wholly facilitated conversion led by Redwood experts.
Redwood’s world-class support resources include 24/7 assistance and on-demand training, giving your team the knowledge and skills to maximize the platform's capabilities.
The RunMyJobs migration process includes:
-
Migration Assessment: A detailed analysis of your existing jobs data, using Redwood’s migration tooling to test it. Recommendations are provided for segmenting jobs into self-contained packages, the number and order of agile migration sprints, a draft project plan, required efforts, and potential optimizations.
-
Project Launch: Redwood experts will introduce you to everyone on the Redwood team who will help to make your migration a success. We will get to know your team, outline the process in clear, understandable terms, so that timelines, key results, and expectations are shared by all stakeholders.
-
Installation & Configuration: All RunMyJobs environments are installed. Authentication and single sign-on processes are set up and tested, along with user security, roles, and authorizations. Naming conventions and object organization are defined, alerting functionality is enabled, and RunMyJobs is connected to the client’s systems, apps, and databases, ensuring seamless integration.
- Team Classroom Training: Operators, engineers, administrators, and end-users receive ten hours of classroom education, divided into five classes. Users gain immediate access to on-demand training through Redwood University to start building knowledge of the platform and tools. Practical training is provided during the migration sprints to help teams gain competence and confidence.
-
Agile Migration Sprint & Hyper Care: A highly controlled, repeatable process is followed.
- Data Conversion: Migration tooling is used to copy, convert, and meticulously analyze pre-defined package workflows against automation specifications.
- For Control-M, UC4/Automic, Autosys, and TWS, the tooling can migrate standard data such as job or chain definitions, events, and calendars. Other custom developments will need to be migrated manually.
- Import to Dev Environment: Workflows are moved to the customer’s development environment, and automations are validated.
- Move to Test Environment: Workflows are moved to the test environment and deployed to ensure expected execution.
- Go-Live: Workflows are moved to the production environment.
-
Hypercare: Processes are monitored to confirm successful execution. Both RunMyJobs and the legacy product run in parallel.
- Quality Control Philosophy: Meticulous attention to detail and complete, total accuracy are critical at every step.
