Symptoms
Copying and pasting of rows in table editor is not updating the key column with the pasted value. This behavior is reproducible for both row copied from within table editor and excel. The expected behavior is to populate the key column field when a value is provided. If no value is provided, a suitable key should be generated.
Cause
A previous enhancement of the Table Editor auto-populates the key column with a running number: Auto-populate a table key column with a running number. This overwrites the pasted values from Excel.
Steps to reproduce:
-
Open Table Editor
-
Open any editable table
-
Copy rows from excel that include a key column and paste them into table editor
-
See that the key column field is being autogenerated
Workaround
The value in the key column can be manually corrected in the Table Editor.
